Guess we are all spoilt now, but again going back to my first car , a 1939 Austin 8, standard kit was a blanket and overcoat in Winter driving conditions. Plus a portable radio ( eventually) on the back window shelf which would slide from side to side as you went around corners ( on two wheels of course! ) One windscreen wiper and on dipped beam, only one headlight....ah, those were the days....

I'm going back to my old thread, more than a year since I started it. I never did tackle it, and last weekend I had a little tinker with it.

I checked the 2 hoses that go into the matrix. The car had been driven, the engine hot - I found the top hose warm, but not hot to the touch. The bottom one however was red hot. Is there anything here that should set alarm bells running?

The heater valve at the back of the head is operating ok.

If the weathers ok at the weekend I'm going to loosen the jubilee clip for the hose into the matrix and see if there's an airlock....

Any other tips??

Many thanks
Andy

Disconnect the matrix, and see if you can back feed with a hosepipe? Is there any sign of the car having had a coolant issue, with something like bars leaks being used?

You could do a quick flow check with a hose if you are prepared to top up and bleed the system afterwards.

Thanks for your replies, I'll try your suggestions at the weekend.

Cheers
