thats easy enough. i've already had them off to fit the new springs and i have two new strut inserts to fit this weekend as well. think i might just replace the top mounts anyway for what they cost. the slotted nut was tightened as well as the damper top nut. the bottom ball joints weren't touched because i have a policy of watching anyone who works on my cars. i even had to explain to them that there was no circlip on the bearings when they did them! i'll check the wishbone bushes as well while its in bits. i have a receipt for them being done about a year ago but you never know.

I'd be chucking a couple of discs at it as well, then I reckon you've covered the lot. Cheap enough, I think a Family Bag of Maltesers is more money than a a pair of discs these days!!

I think I have the same think on my B4 80. Can I get one of these and check the unevenness? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Trade-Qual...ht_4205wt_1029

Using a dti yes, checking both sides of the brake disc as you turn it. Usually requires removal of the road wheel but the disc may come away from the hub slightly giving false readings but you can put the wheel bolts back in with some suitable spacers on them to help stop this from happening.

This was very important to mention! And for reliable measurement, these bolts should be tightened with a proper torque. Not necessarily with the road wheel torque but evenly.

When were the discs last changed? Is the judder felt through the steering wheel?
Not a definite or accurate way of measurment but....if you run your fingers over the brake disc right to the end/edge...if you can feel a ridge...its a sign that your discs are worn |

Plenty of thickness left in them and looked in good condition. Vibrations felt through steering wheel with light brake pressure. Also you can feel it "gently pulsing" as I come to a stop.
