Interesting. I usually use a yard broom against the head restraint - much finer adjustment using the seat back rake.

Good idea - disconnect the battery, or the rear light clusters, or the brake light switch on the pedal frame. You just wouldn't believe how fast and completely the brake lights can drain a marginal battery.
