Takes a lot of time up using one as a daily, believe me. The kids 'help me' when I have to do that, spreading my tools round half an acre of garden (which is fun), but they think I'm working on the car by choice, because that's what daddy's do. Little do they know.:wall::lol:

See I love our house, decent 5 bedrooms 2 kitchens (which we want to put into one) but the garden, garage and parking is all too small. We've got about 1/5 acre communal space out the front which is jointly owned amongst the 8 houses on our row but I'd love Roo to have a much bigger garden to play in.

Funnily enough the car required less work when it WAS being used daily!! Matters not I've got an octavia vrs for the chores (cycle to work). Romany too loves to 'help' me but recently i've been mostly under the car so I feel very nervous when she's hovering over my head wanting to 'hand' me tools!!

You could not be more right. I drove a 90 quattro type 85 as a daily for 3 years, no serious problems with it ever in that time. I never drive my coupe quattro type 85 but when I used there is always something wrong.

Evidently not all cars are created equally then.. seriously, not a SINGLE month has gone by in the five years i've run this thing where something hasn't had to be ripped off, rebuilt or replaced, still have a £500 pile of new parts still to go on. And that's nothing to do with MOTs! Maybe it's her driving..

Drove Japanese cars for 15 years and only ever had to change fluids, brakes and tyres. Nothing else EVER broke! Ever!

Sit a Japanese car in your garden (which I have) discs go rusty, battery dies eventually, that's it. Sit a classic audi in your garden...

No in fact don't, almost as bad as using it.

How the hell does it take 4 pages of comment to get to the most obvious no brainer common sense decision ever. Now that you've washed your mouth out with water and got away from the 'selling' word take it for a drive and congratulate yourself. Well done Davey.

Just read this & tbh, I thought your asking price was a bit on the lean side. Surely worth a bit more than even the offer of 6.3k?

Economically speaking you've probably made the right decision in keeping it & if I was you I'd be getting it looking the part now. Making it all shiney & nice is a rewarding experience if it all works out & will 'up' it's value immediately :)

I realised that once I'd had about 6 people willing to buy it sight unseen!

Going to keep the resto going slowly slowly, MOT next (must stop being lazy and just take it!) then get started on the bodywork!
