Red face Do this work?

Hi All,

I was searching the 'bay' for a new/replacement indicator lense and found the following:-

Octane Booster and Lower Emissions

I am trying to get the best I can from the old girl.

no,or at least any difference itll make will be so miniscule that youd definately not notice.these fuel additive things are generally a waste of time,we use them in racing but thats different as we are running at max revs all the time and all the cars are the same spec so even a 1% difference may make the difference in a race....but generally, for road use they aint worth the ink on the label

Utter crap unforunately.

Ask yourself if it was as good as they make out, whyd the manufacturers all not retrofit them?

All of these things are designed to liberate just one thing- cash from your wallet.

The ONLY way to save fuel is to drive slower!
There is not one single device on ebay that will save you any fuel, no matter what claims and proof they give you.

Just put decent branded super unleaded in for a bit more power and better cleaning for your engine than supermarket fuels.

Just put a few drops of acetone in with a full tank. Much cheaper than the so called fuel saver additives. Is considered to improve combustion, cause less unburnt fuel to enter the exhaust, and result in better mpg.

if your ever looking for an extra 20-30 bhp in a short boost without spending any real money then ill tell you how to do it,but you didnt get it from me ok,haha........if you go on ebay and search fresh cream gas canisters you will find boxes of 10 small stainless steel canisters, normally 10 are around 4 quid, those canisters contain nitros oxide!!haha......take an old central locking solenoid, grind the end of the push-rod to a sharp point, mount the canister on top of a small piece of wood inside your air filter box and cable tie down, bolt the solenoid with the sharp point about 2cm away from the piercing end of the canister, connect the earth wire from solenoid to earth, the positive to a switch......and there you have it!!!,for under a fiver a 6-8 second burst of NOS.....this isnt theory,i have this set-up in one of my cars, obviously not my racing car cos that would be illegal and id get banned!!ha

No, like everyone has said, it's snake oil and it's designed to do one thing, get money from your pocket in to theirs!

Also wrong I'm afraid. If it's 98, it's 98. There's no smoke and mirrors in this equation.

Acetone?... sounds reasonable but I'd be damned if I would do it. We used to run 5:1 petrol:toluene in the old Datsun I rallied back in the good old days of leaded fuel, This allowed us to run more aggressive ignition timing on a 12:1 compression motor. Later we just ran AvGas 130 in that same sort of motor until leaded fuel was banned in rallying here in 2001.

Assuming you are not taking the piss (but I really hope you are?!), is it really worth the hassle?
