Default 29th International Audi 100 Coupé S Meeting 2010 UK

29th International Audi 100 Coupé S Meeting

Dates: Thursday 13th to Sunday 16th May 2010

Venue: Anita’s Caravan Park and Holiday Cottages, near Banbury
http://www.warwickshiretouristguide....ttages_919.asp

Located on the border of Warwickshire and Oxfordshire, the village of Mollington is situated between, Oxford, Warwick and Stratford-upon-Avon, approximately 5 miles from junction 11 of the M40. Neighbouring villages are home to several National Trust sites, as well as the battlefield of Edge Hill, and of importance to us, the Gaydon Heritage Motor Centre.
The 4 star caravan park has two small cottages (barn conversions) and will have three “pods”, for those that want to stay on the campsite but don’t want the hassle of erecting a tent (for more info on these, just google “camping pods”). Showers, toilets and washing facilities are to a high standard. The nearest pub, the Green Man, lies within yards of the campsite – great for a drink in the evening, though too small to cater for meals on a large scale. There is plenty of room for a Marquee, which would be a must as a reception and focal area for the Treffen – we have a field available for this and any parking requirements we may have in addition to the individual pitches.

For those looking for an alternative to camping, there is a Premier Inn in the next village, Warmington. Charges are £50-60 per night per double/twin room, sleeping two adults, and an additional two children if necessary. Breakfast is not included in this, and is an extra £7.50 per person. The Premier Inn has good parking, and food is at the Wobbly Wheel (Brewer’s Fayre) next door to it.

Itinerary

Thursday 13th May

Arrival and welcome to the venue. Welcome packs will be given out, including itinerary, local maps, rally plaques, etc.
Thursday would be a free day with no organised rallies, but suggested trips would be Warwick Castle (20 miles away), Bicester Outlet (24 miles) and Oxford (30 miles).
Evening meal would be BBQ at the campsite, weather permitting.

Friday 14th May

10.30am Shakespeare Country Rally
This tour would head in convoy for Stratford-upon-Avon by beautiful back roads, taking in some of the finest views across South Warwickshire. Landmarks on this drive would be Farnborough Hall, Edge Hill (civil war battlefield), Upton House and Charlecote.
Evening venue to be determined – may consider Hog Roast, or dining at a local restaurant.

Saturday 15th May

10.30am Gaydon Heritage Motor Centre.
http://www.heritage-motor-centre.co.uk/
The centrepiece of the Treffen will be at Gaydon, where we will put our cars on display for the day. Gaydon is home to the largest collection of historic British cars in the world, all under one roof. As well as access to the museum, we will have conference facilities for the day, enabling the Chairmen’s meeting to be conducted here. With plenty of room around our display area, both hard and grass, it will be ideal for the traditional games. See the website for more details, but this really is a fabulous venue.

The centre has great conference facilities, ideal for holding the gala dinner, but it’s quite expensive. If we were to do this, we would use the Kestrel Suite, a circular room with a balcony extending right around the room from which to survey the surrounding countryside. This needs more thought, and I’m still looking at other options for this.

Sunday 16th May

Well that’s it – wrap up and go home. Well, for the visitors that is…marquee to come down etc…

This is my proposal for next year for members to consider. I’m looking for several things at this stage:
Feedback on the itinerary – does this look OK, and are we happy with the venue? The main thing is the general location – the tour specifics will need fine tuning, eg, we may go on mass to Warwick Castle on the Friday as part of the tour instead of going to Stratford-upon-Avon. Access for a convoy may be far easier into Warwick Castle.
I will be looking for support at the venue throughout the weekend, especially on Thursday, to welcome our visitors and ensure that accommodation goes to plan. Also, to deal with the unexpected, such as double the number expected turning up. I’ve seen it before, believe me!!! Wrapping the show up on Sunday will also involve a little work.
Finally, as many members as possible, with or without their cars, to attend the event and enjoy themselves. These events are always tremendous fun, and even with the thought of organisating it, I am really looking forward to the event. If you can bring your car, better still. If you need inspiration to get your car back on the road, this should be it!!!
Any club members who are able to help at the site on Thursday morning would be welcome to stay at our house in Rugby the Wednesday night – we have two spare rooms by way of accommodation.
I am really enthusiastic about this venue. The area is beautiful, plenty of sightseeing, lots of options for ride outs and picturesque places to display the cars. I have already started the process of organizing the event, with accommodation and the Heritage Centre provisionally booked, and I am very optimistic that we can put additional arrangements in place to make this a first class Treffen.

the above came over from an email from Steve Love (Chariman ACCGB)

Hi,

For those that are not aware, we ARE now hosting next year's International Treffen - Thursday 13th to Sunday 16th May 2010. Over the last month, I have been working on a proposal, which I have attached. Please take a look and give me your feedback. To make this work, I will need support at the venue from a few volunteers, and most of all, we need people there, preferably with their cars. These events are tremendous fun - mark it in your diary, and let me know if you can make it as soon as possible.

All the best,

Steve Love
Chairman ACCGB.

I'm sure it'll be an excuse for others to visit.

If you look at the pictures from the other 100 trefens over the past few years, there has always been a few other Audi's there. This years was in Sweden and Leth visited in his 100CD and took some superb pictures!

Hi,
The Audi 100 Coupe S clubs on the continent tend to cater for series 2 Audi 100 as well, and you will always see a spattering of series 1 Audi 80, and older models which preceeded the 100. Regarding the rally on Saturday 15th May at the Heritage Motor Centre, really the more the merrier. We have room for 100 cars on display in front of the museum, so there's a good chance we'll have room for additional cars. Additionally, if I know numbers in advance, I can get additional tickets in advance to enter the museum on the day at £6 each (normal price £9).
If you're interested in the rally, or in the whole event, let me know. I'll update everybody nearer the time with all the details. In the meantime, here's some pictures to wet the appetite!!!

I'll be along in my 100 Coupe Steve, but do you think we'd be ok inviting some Classic Audi members who have other early Audi's as I know there will be a few people on here who'd love to come along and be part of it.

I've got a feeling that May 2011 will have a nice picture of a few Audi 100 Coupe S's parked outside Gaydon on the CA calendar!

I'll leave the ball in your court as to how many in numbers would be allowed to join the party, but if anyone is interested in coming to Gaydon next year, then I'm sure it's something that you won't want to miss!
I'm sure there will be a good number of visitors from mainland Europe who will be making the trip over to the UK so it would be nice to give them a little display of other Audi's.

If you can stomach the ugly look of a gold type 81 coupe I'd love to be involved and help out
I've put the dates in my diary and am officially on stand by
