Default Are the dealers changing attitudes to older Audis?

I ask only because my 1985, one owner, 80 Sport is now sitting in Camberley Audi's showroom with all their ' Newly Released A4 launch cars ' .

As Camberley said - the 80s were the forerunners of the A series.

And I had a phone call from Cheltenham Audi along the lines :-

seen it advertised, is it still available - YES
Oh good. We'd like to borrow it to put in the showroom with the new launch A4s.
If you loan it we'll give you a loan car for the weekend ( to get me home - it must be 80 miles each way ) and you can come back on Monday to collect it , oh and we'll put a for sale note on it for you as well.

Not very generous are they

I would of expected at least a courtesy car, all my expenses covered including a days pay or collect the following weekend. A meal wouldnt go amiss either.

Cheap skates i would say.

Yep!

Well at 160 miles round trip that's why it 's at Camberley Audi, ( where over the years I've spent faaaaar too much money ) and it's only 20 mins tops to get there ( and drop Her off nearby at M&S / Next - although she never spends as much as I could

I have to drop 'her' off to the Camberley Next every so often, and I sit in the car waiting for her. So I have an excuse to go, I'll go and look at your car!!

Check the small print before taking them up on this offer...
It's not like the good old days where you just sign a piece of paper to say that you're borrowing the car before driving it away and returning it with fuel replaced. They now want your money just to take their loan vehicles off the premises and have a basic minimum excess of £1000! The alternative being that you can add the vehicle to your own insurance, but don't expect it to be an easy ride, the last time I attempted to do so, maybe 3 years ago, the dealership were unable to provide enough details for the vehicle that they were loaning me to be able to satisfy my insurance company.

I can understand their need to be more cautious these days, especially in view of loaning a £20K-£30K vehicle, but when I've been using said dealership for 18yrs and have driven plenty of their courtesy cars in that time, it did kind of make me think that maybe I should get them to sign something with a huge excess implied and insist that they hand me money when I leave my car with them.

RALF has been sitting in HQ now for about 2 months (apart from it's weekend out to ADI!)

When I put it up for sale, an independent Audi dealer in Northern Ireland wanted it for their showroom as did one in Japan!

South Hereford Audi always used to have an old car amongst their stock in their showroom
I'm guessing it was probably owned by one of the salesman/dealer principle and he just used it for free storage!
