Default starting problem on cq

I have a problem that has been steadily getting worse for the last 2 weeks or so. I will fire up in the morning, 1st time, straight away, I drive say to a petrol station, fill up, restart, it wont! I leave it 5-10 mins, turn the key, hey presto it fires straight up. Today I drove down to the coast, stopped, parked up, switched it off. Went to fire her up, nothing. Waited 10 mins, turned the key, it fired straight up.

Any ideas? When it fails, it comes on, but immediately the revs drop, and it stalls.

I had a hot start problem with my UR when I first got it. Turned out to be something to do with the fuel pump if I recall (back before I was active in getting oily myself!)

Whereabouts is the relay? Not listed in the haynes or bentley book? Many thanks. Andy

Question Could be?

Had a similar problem, turned out to be fuel pump relay.
When it cut out,I'd have to wait about 15 minutes before it would restart.

It's good that we can guess that we're talking about KV engine...

There's no "cold start relay" - there's only switch which turns on cold start injector when starter motor is running. The rest of enrichment is provided by control pressure regulator.

Thanks for the reply msh. Yes its the kv engine. I want to eliminate the simple things first. Any thoughts you might have would be much appreciated.
