Default Weird C3 Headlight

Opinions please chaps.....

When I switch on my side lights the right bulb comes on immediately, as expected, but the left illuminates gradually. It has always been like this.

Any ideas?

Is this with the engine running?? Sounds like the left side light is blown and what you're seeing is the headlight bulb illuminating via the dim/dip relay?? To confirm this check the side-lights with engine/ignition off.

Side light bulbs are original, factory fitted. Main beam bulbs are blue Xenon type fitted 10 years ago. This problem has been ongoing for 23 years.

It is probably a bad earth....................

Would have thought the earth point will be the same as the headlight bulb?
A volts-drop test on both live and earth circuits would reveal an issue perhaps?
It's not the worst problem to live with for 23 years!?
