Default Auto Box

Hi guys anyone help me out here?

I have a K Reg 80 2.0e auto and every now and again the box decides to slam in and out of gears whether up or down the box.

Anyone have any ideas to this fault.

PS gear box oil checked and changed

Oil getting hot? Mine does if the rad temp is climbing (cooling issue in slow traffic) especially going up the box.

Using it in manual mode is fine.

I should elaborate- mine being the V8. It has 3 modes, which seem to be

(for info)
e- economy. Hah! it's a V8. Still, you have to make an effort
S- sport- makes nice noises over a larger rev range
M- Manual- magically limits the shifter, allowing 2nd gear to operate between all junctions

there's a 4th mode, being honest.
Fail- Fail- Something's screwed, and all the indicators are lit. Oops
