metering head
ok i think ive found something related to my pulsing idle on my 2.0e audi 80 8v 1989. After trying 3 ISVs made no difference. Ive looked for air leaks etc. The problem is intermittent however the other day when shaun5 was doing my heater matrix we started the car up and it started playing up. He pulled off the connector of the box that is bolted on the right of the metering head if you were looking at it head on. The revs settled straight down and it started to run right. when we re-connected it it started to pulse. We wernt sure of what it would do to the MPG etc running it disconnected so i turned it off and back on and it was fine. Shaun pulled of the same connector on his 2.3e metering head and the engine started to cough and splut etc. If i disconnect it when the idle isnt playing up the revs just drop by about 100 rpm but it doesnt cough and splut etc. Im going to take it for a drive on the weekend with it disconnected and see what happens before i go looking for a replacement metering head.
Its also developed a slight flat spot, when its first started or started up when hot you can put your foot down it pulls well then its almost like 25% just disapears and it goes flat.
Does anyone know what the box on the right side of the metering head function is?
on my 90Q with the KV engine the metering head doesnt have this box so im wondering if i need it connected
cheers
