just taxed my mk3 GTI for the first time in 4 years... it needed a bit done to it so wasnt using it.. nearly dropped when i heard the price of the tax!!!! im movin to NI...

its Ireland...
its always been expensive but its getting out of hand now... and the roads are terrible... read an article today about how theyre losing 55 million per year by people getting forms signed bt the cops to say the cars werent in use, so theyre bringing in the SORN thing here now... if theyre losing 55 million how much are they collecting???? and it doesnt go towards upkeep of the road, its a tax for the right to use your vehicle in a public place.. i wish i was clever and wealthy enough to fight the system..

Tell 'em to start selling old Irish reg numbers - look at the revenue it generates over here.
At least you have the 30-year rule - don't the rates come down a lot after that?

€52 per yer for over 30, but i can see that changing too, theres a lot of vintage stuff over here..

the way things are going not just ireland with mad tax and even madder insurance i am not surprised people don't tax or insure them .the average joe will always foot the bill
