Well spotted Minty: yes that was me pottering along at 65 I expect. Just back on road after ignition amplifier failed - took ages to find problem. Just passed MOT again and is indeed daily driver. We think it is 'youngest' surviving Sport (30/10/86). Photo looks to be in Weetwood hotel in Leeds a few years back. Nice shot of it whoever took it and thanks to The Milkman for finding it - not seen it before. Off to Heathrow again Thurs and on to NE London. 160k now and still going well. Cheers folks

Yes, I've got a few and those on the road are all used regularly. In fact that's my newest car . Yes, this 'spotted' certainly worked well .

Car looks great! What symptoms did you have, if any, before the amplifier failed?

None at all Steve, I'd used it on a 100 mile run; then parked up for a couple of weeks at a mates house. He brought it down to me (1mile) then for a day it was parked next door. I moved it to my drive and didn't use it for a couple of days and then problem. No attempt to fire. I replaced all the usual stuff. Initially it did try to run on 'easy-start', but that might have been the last bit of life in the Ign Amp? That led me down a fuel problem route and then back to electrical.

I had similar prob with another Sport, but that turned out to be fuel pump earth connection loose under back seat. Oddly I didn't check that this time, but it turned out to be Ign. Amp. Luckily not NLA .

Cheers. G.

Hi Chris,
Yes; supplied by Vindis of Bedford I think. Thompson Holidays had it as co. car for 3 years and it stayed in the Beds/Bucks area until c. 2004 when it went to N'hampton, which is where I bought it in 2004. (Had personalised plate, but got orig back). I've done 40k in it with no probs except that ign.amp. Just back from another M25 trip - just shy of 40mpg (fill up and fill up again) Can't grumble at that for a 27 y.o. with 160k on the clock.
Yes, tinted back lights: not my choice, but look OK, however, in all but good conditions you need the twin fogs on, but even then not as bright as modern car rear lights! Cheers. G.
