Default rc cars.

ive started my son off with with the rc cars bug that my dad set me off with when i was 8 (midnight pumkin then a blitzer beatle).
my son has had cheapo mickey mouse rc stuff in the past, but theyve been rubbish tbh.

i bought a tamiya fighter buggy rx for him a couple of weeks ago. it was intended to be a project for us. bought some new wheels and tyres and a couple of other bits it needed ended up spending £50 on parts for it!

getting a couple of 7.2 battery packs tomorrow, so we'll see how he gets on.

I've got a project Tamiya Monster Beetle I've had since I was 12. Birthday present from mum & dad, but my brother decides he wants first shot & runs it into a wall at full speed... dick!!

It got fixed, but was never right & always had gearbox issues after, but got everything there to rebuild it right... one of these days

Honestly though, I still love it

Mini money pits.
Very addictive though, especialy if you add brushless, lipo, truggy and skateparks together.

lol bought a battery pack and slow/fast charger. £31 spent.

should have seen my lads eyes light up in the shop looking at all the expencive cars in there! some of them are just wow! chatting to the guy in there, how the rc game has moved on in 15 years.
that tamiya just looks soooo old compared to some tranxxas hpi stuff. still its my lads first proper one its his turn to enjoy this stuff.
just need some 27meg crystals now.

lol hi alex, go on then i'll ask you a question...... it still has the old style servo controlled mech. speed controller.
are these things a good upgrade?

its got a standard 540 motor atm but might upgrade to a sport tuned or something after upgrading the friction shocks to actual oil filled ones.

sorry been away from computer a couple of days , yes i would upgrade the old transistor speed controller for the basic electronic speed controller, its so much better get one for around 25 quid , and perhaps a sport tuned motor, nothing too hairy they are 18 quid and you get a few more RPMs i get bits from modelsport look them up they have a good mail order service available

happy days!!

I started off with a knackered Tamiya Subsru pick up 2wd thingy I bought from a school classmate, then had a Hot Shot with a Kyosho 480T motor and 8.4v battery pack... it went like a stabbed rat

Progressed onto the BMT 1/8th scale 3.5cc circuit racers then bought a Serpent 1/8th and a 1/10th scale as well.

I used to go to the circuit at Mendip near jcn 21 on the M5. I still have a nearly new Nova Rossi 3.5cc engine with an exhaust and the 1/10 scale model has the winning F1 GTR body livery from the Ueno Clinic sponsored car

If you put into YouTube Serpent 1/8 racing you'll be amazed how fast these models go !!!!!
