Default Dont get divorced, your Insurance policy will go up!

Just rang up privilege to discuss renewel of my policy on my daily driver (mk4 golf tdi)
I got divorced a few months ago so changed the details on the policy so that now Im the only named driver and it has gone up £60
To be fair she was a sh!t driver as well so my policy should come down
Just told privilege to sod off and Im now shopping around but it looks like they maybe the cheapest out there for me
Had trouble with them last year when I shopped around, there internet price was 70 quid cheaper than my renewal notice and the only way I could get that price was to cancel my insurance and then reinsure with them over the internet, then about a month later they threatened to cancel my insurance as they had not recieved my proof of no claims from my previous insurer which was themselves

Privilege are shocking inefficient. They were, maybe still are, part of Directline.
It was them that spent in excess of £20000 doing a £2500 repair on my quattro, and screwing the whole thing up.

You don't know the true value of insurance until it comes time to claim. By which point it is too late.
You may have caught a break!

I got divorced in 2003 and my insurance was increased when I renewed it, apparently a divorced man is a greater risk! What really shocked me is that I stayed in that 'divorced' category for 8 years until I remarried in August. To add insult to injury my ex-wife kept my name on her policy because it made her insurance cheaper!

Motor direct are quite good, they usually do trade insurances but I found them pretty good on alsorts of stuff. In fact I think Jimmy was insured with them before (don't overvalue it and keep the miles clip).

Try Colin at AIS (Alfreton Insurance Services), or Paul Bostrum at Need2Insure, Sutton in Ashfield.
Both VERY knowledgeable, and I've used them for years.

Spoke to customer complaints, all they tried to do was sell me house insurance and quote me for my gt as well so politely told them to sod off. Tried all of the above and some more, no one comes near privilege even with there price hike
Gonna have to eat humble pie and go back with them I think
