Default Wanted TDI cheap Audi

WIth the high price of petrol, I'm looking for a 80TDI or 100 TDI (2wd). Not too bothered about bodywork, just has to have decent mechanical bits......... High mileage is fine too......

£500-1000.

Will travel for right car.

Cheers

Steve

How about an early A4. Mine does 50mpg and impossible to get it below 44mpg no matter how hard you try

Rear legroom is crap.

We had a 99V reg. Also not as well built as the B4. Also suspension problems.

Agree about rear legroom but then only i drive it now for work, suspension has a bad reputation but only changed mine once in 135k miles
Worse issue for me has been the alternator, pas belt idler pulley, had 4 on now..
Never had a build quality issue still no interior squeaks or rattles and you'd think it had only done 30k when you're driving it. Have to sell soon as Pete learning to drive next year

I was going to suggest an A4 as well, although rear legroom is indeed crap. Ive one with 240k or there abouts and still pulls strong( for 90bhp).

A4 is a definite no no. My wife and I will use it occasionally to carry kids in car seats, and I won't be amputating their legs so they fit in it!

That is the reason we sold our A4 originally.

Talking

I bought a VW Bora SE TDi 90bhp, 2000 'x', 170,000 miles but with FULL service history and mint throughout. Had a full service at my wides garage Inc fluids, filters etc. Replaced rear discs n pads as a precaution and doing the cambelt & water pump this week (genuine VAG) for £144 for the parts. Went to Derby yesterday (A38) and got 66 mpg average. The cost of the car? £750, plus the cambelt kit, service parts etc. A great, underrated car! And cheaper than public transport!
I would recommend one - under rated, unrecognisable etc 

Cheers guys.

Have been looking at Boras. Like them.

Also went to see a L reg £490 80 tdi today, but there were too many "niggles" with it.

However where I met the guy in salisbury was a garage with a black 80 tdi avant which I enquired about and will get a call tomorrow about.

Missed a L reg 100 tdi 2.5 on eBay......

Cool

2.5 not particularly good if you ask me (although the Audi specialist that works at my wides garage swears by them. His is tuned, absolutely mint, and he is building a fully blueprinted performance (?) diesel engine for it.
