Default Arrghh! Had a bump..

....though luckily NOT in the quattro, which is a blessing I guess.
Someone pulled out of a junction into me this morning
I was doing no more than 20 mph and as I got level with him he pulled straight out!, nothing I could do. He claimed he didn't see me (in our Range Rover!) because of the low sun.

Not a huge amount of damage fortunately, the rear of the front wing has been pushed in slightly on my car. His car has a ding in the wing, bumper and scratched headlight (Jaguar X-Type).

The Jag was a hire car, so we both went round to the main dealers where he had picked it up only a short while before.
The dealer took details and photo's of both cars, but couldn't yet say how things proceed from here (they will call me later). It was clearly the other drivers fault, if I was doing 5mph he would have still hit me!

Has anyone been in a similar situation to this before? Does any damage usually go through the dealers insurance, or the private insurance of the other driver?

How the hell can you miss your Range Rover?? It's ferkin hooj!!

If it's low sun, then drive accordingly or put on a pair of sunglasses!
If he couldn't see your car then his vision must have been almost nil so should never have pulled out.

Wonder if he signed the insurance waiver thingy when he picked it up!!?!?!?

cost him a lot more if he didn't!

And why is his car in the main dealers? probably for accident damage repair!!!!

Low Sun....you mean it's still around then

Good luck Pete and lets hope it doesn't get all complicated for the innocent driver

To say he didnt see you Rangie are huge he couldnt have missed you Id get yourself to your main range rover dealer and get a quote for the damaged had a similar thing with someone as few years ago they hit the back of mine but they wrote theres off but I still had to have mine checked out so i took it to the main dealers and there insurance paid for a new towbar cover and a scratch to be done well actually the painted the whole boot for me which was great as it needed doing and it didnt cost me a penny. Definately take your Range Rover to your local dealer and get them to give you a quote and then submit a copy to the guys insurance and let it go from there.

Some people just shouldn't be allowed on the road.

One of my neighbours was on his way to a wedding last year when he wrote off his car. He had it towed to the dealers where he hired another and promptly wrote that one off 10 miles down the road!
