Default Death penalty.

A controversial issue for some i realise, but the more i see of the evil in people the more i feel we need this bringing back.

Ive just read a particularly sickening story in a daily paper about a little 15 month old baby ( looked a lovely child) who was "happy slapped" to death by a complete cowardly shit.
Not only that, this evil bastard videoed what he did on his goddam mobile and then labelled the videos to watch them again and presumably to share them with like minded scum later on.
Headings such as "two minutes of pain" and "squeezing toe" etc were what this fetid sack of stinking filth perpertrated on an innocent child, all while he took a delight in doing it.

Having a 10 month old nephew who i absolutely adore, has made me feel extremely strongly on this issue and i cannot see the value in pond life such as these subhuman perpertrators being kept alive.

Theres something wrong with a society when it allows this kind of thing to go unpunished.
Of course some will say he gets life in jail, but that dosent go even partway to punishing those kinds of deliberate and gleefully imposted acts on an innocent, defenceless baby, depriving him of a right to life and for the fun of it. Thats what really angers me.
I cant get my head around why someone would or could do that, its alien, utterly alien to me and it makes me so absolutely furious.

Im seriously thinking a petition needs to be started, if that means i trudge around in the pissing rain for the next 5 years, if it gets the required support, if it gets a change, if it stops this kind of thing from happening and if it makes dog bastards like this rancid slime pay the ultimate penalty for acts of pure evil against babies, then ill be satisfied and itll have been worth it.
Im sick of seeing examples of this kind of predatory behaviour by these "people".
Baby Peter, Jamie Bulger and on and on and on...it just keeps coming.

Alternatively, give me just 5 minutes alone with him, even 1 minute would do and justice will have been properly served.

Sorry for the vent.

I know hun it does make you think. In a way I am glad I cant have kids because I would be fearful for them every minute they were out of my sight , you just cant protect them enough, they are innocent in it's purest form, they get bullied, beaten up, abused, tortured and killed all in the name of fun for some people who have pleasure in putting it on you tube or their mobile sick sick people.

Like you put them in a room with me for just 5 minutes and let's see how funny they think it is with a grown up who can fight back.

a truly shocking and horrific case. I read about this last night and was disgusted.

I don't believe in the death penalty, thats another debate for another day and for scum like this it's the easy way out. Give him 30 years inside where every inmate and warder alike will see he gets whats due to him every day for the rest of his life. No friends and nowhere to hide

Ask Ian Huntley what it's like. Had his throat slashed, boiling sugar poured into his face, he's tried to kill himself on more than one occassion to escape what he's getting inside.

Agree... Rather than the death penalty they should 'Sign their life over to the state'... So when not locked up they can be used as a free workforce for the less palatable things in life, like cleaning up major oil or sewage spills etc.

The death penalty SHOULD be brought back! providing there is NO doubt as to the conviction. I know some people will say that the death penalty is not a deterrant and I would agree. It might not be a deterrant but it sure as hell stops them murdering twice!

Society is too soft now, likewise I would deal with rapists and kiddie fiddlers, cut their tackle off, same result

Let the automotive engineers use the bastards as crash test dummies.

Its got to be more of a deterrent than sitting in prison for 20 years with an xbox and a plasma tv though

Im all for it personally in the more extreme cases as mentioned by the op (and also getting rid of these holiday camp prisons),should be outside breaking up rocks in the pissing rain and snow!

Where there is categoric proof of the crime, I have no issues whatsoever with the death penalty. I don't go in for the American system where it's a 'show' either. Just take them from the court into a sealed room and gas them. End of. No audience required. Why on earth should we be paying for these scum to be living in a state hotel with bars on the windows for the rest of their days is beyond me.

However, where there is no conclusive proof, even where there is 99% evidence, I don't think we as a society can afford to go down that same route.

I think we should send them to the Middle East line them up and use them for mine sweeping ahead of our soldiers.

the deterrant aspect is priobably the biggest failing of the whole argument. Statistically proven many times over where murder numbers are not any lower because of a death penalty.

As for extreme cases like this do you really believe the death penalty would have prevented this crime?. I don't believe so. This individuals thought process is so alien and outside of the social norm that he probably would not even have considered any of the consequences of his actions.

For me I can't reconcile it is ever right for a state to outlaw the taking of life by taking a life in return. That's my persoanl moral stance and I am ok with other's having a differing view.

As for the practicalities of implementing. I see no reason why it would be financially effective. As a country that holds justice as a key cornerstone to society then we would end up housing said inmates for heaven knows how many years while legal arguments and appeals go backwards and forwards. Seems to me it would be more expensive than locking them up for twenty years or more. And all the while they will still have their plasma TV' s etc (if that's to be believed, having no spent any time in prison I couldn't comment).
