Default Suspension Spring Paint Marks

Looking at the rear suspension springs on my 1988 A100, I see two yellow paint marks.

What do they mean?

It must be significant, as the part no.s have 952 appended to them where paint marks exist (according to 7zap).

The paint marks come on the factory springs

They refer to spring rate / ride height etc and are an aid to identifying what setup the car has without going off the build sticker. The colours are on 7zap alongside the part numbers, i know my own has a combination of silver and pink paint which refers to a ‘sport suspension’ spring.

There are ones for one for heavier duty use or taller ride height etc etc.. yours seem to refer to ‘adaptive suspension’. Not sure what that is, but i’d rather have it than not as non-adaptive sounds painful

Adaptive suspension = self-levelling.

Anyone else know what the paint means? And why are there different colours?

Because it gives them a higher number of identifiers in the smallest possible space without using numbers which might be a long string of text that needed printing or a label that would come off. It really is that simple.
