Are front CQ dampers the same as Rear?
My type 85 CQ is being prepared for its MOT and it needs new front shocks.
Are the fronts and backs the same? I have some unused spare Boge Turbo Gas shocks but I don't remember if they are for front or rear? Are they the same for both or are there differences. |

Parts catalogue for a 1985 CQ would suggest they are different.

Cheers for reply!
Would there be anything obvious to identify if they are front or rear? There are still as new in their boxes atm. |

If you have a part number on the Bose shocks, someone might have a cross-reference list.

So, there are a few different numbers on the BOGE shock, the large font in the centre (32-920-F) which I presume is the BOGE part number isn't listed as a front shock but is listed as a rear. However there is another large number at the top (170 139) that seems to corresponde with a SACHS part number, and that one IS listed as a front shock. BOGE and SACHS are the same company arent they? I have those shocks on the front of my WR Ur. Identical part numbers.
Sachs took over Boge years ago I believe. |

Front and rear dampers are interchangeable to an extent, assuming both are the same diameter, either 50mm or 55mm. Though the rears will be stiffer and have less travel.
