I learnt in my Dad's white Mk3 Golf 1.8 GL (J440 RPM), had a couple of lessons in the instructors maroon Mk4 Fiesta and did 'Pass Plus' in a red Toyota Startlet

My first car was a dark blue Mk3 Fiesta, 1.1 Bonus! (K89 OTL), true poverty spec., it didn't even have a cigarette lighter (it had manual choke, aout the last car to have one - 1992). That was until I dropped a 1.6 CVH lump in with auto-choke (oh the luxuries.... )

I used to DRIVE to my driving school in my mk1 Micra 1.0, learned to park up, reverse, etc in an old written off (I think) diesel escort with my instructor in his private car park (looked like a go kart track), then old Opel Astra on normal roads, and finally I passed my driving test in mk5 golf, just when they came out. Theory and driving - first time!

a 1961 Hillman Minx, my Dad's car

although the first test ( I failed !) was actually in my Grandmothers 1964 Morris 1100 ( nice little cars).

It actually looked like this ( a rear shot ) but was not two tone - just this green -- Glen Green was it's name !
