Just going home now, got to finish the final bits as the GT6 as more or less done.

Then later carry on painting the bathroom.

Lurkio can have a respite for a few hours, no doubt digging out his old VHS collection of bad hair days, doggy tashes and some suspect saxophone music and trying to see if he can spot me

Don't over do it too early old chap, the swimming is a good one.
It will come back, just takes us bloody ages.

Remember the excess loss will start from the shoulders and work down, takes ages to lose it from the midriff, the body's way of protecting the inner organs.
So patience, not perfection at the beginning.

Back,...... the swimming pools only a 5 minute walk.

Thanks for the advice, keep it coming, any more gratefully received. Your right i've got to take it
easy and listen to my body the doctor said. Karen mentioned the hospital said it's going to take 6 months.

Anyway,...... 22 lengths plus playing with Oliver and feeling ready for dinner now.
All last week in Swanage we went swimming around 12 noon for an hour to work up a
proper appetite for lunch. Have to say it feels good exercising again something ive neglected for so long.

Just take it easy, you will know when you can do more.

Problem we have is over 35 the testosterone really starts to drop off, natures say you don't need your old breeding gonads and at that age you are no longer a hunter gatherer, so testosterone drops off rapidly to almost FA at 50 -60. Testosterone gives you the aggression to fight the wooly mammoths, gather food, fight the tribes for the best breeding stock, and then sow your seed in as many as possible to keep the human race alive. Bit like Bruce now really

As humans being about for approx. 500 million years, in evolution terms that is miniscule, so we haven't had chance for our bodies and stuff to adapt and evolve to living longer and breading later in life, the old body evolution say we should be past it at 40.

That's a short of abridge version. Anyway testosterone is also the major factor in your body to help shed fat etc, and to help keep this off, lots of science out there to read. Thus the problem we have is later in life it takes a lot of f hard work, effort, diet to keep in shape, where as the fighting 25 years old can sh ag everything, eat what they like ( within reason ) and still look like sticks.

Proven facts.
Exercise if you can in the mornings as Testosterone is at its highest.

Eat lots of dark green veg, helps boost testosterone.

Fasting and then exercising is a proven way to shed rapidly. 16 hrs fasting and then vigorous exercise has been proven to work really well, so think about it, sleep at 10 pm, awake at 8, no grub, thats 10 hours, exercise at say 10AM and there's nearly 12 hours, easy. Just take it easy though, you need to know what and how as carb levels and sugar levels can be low and lead to light headiness and dizzy, but good news is the body actually gets accustomed to it.

HIIT, High Intensity Interval Training, best weight loss exercise proven to work, 20 mins 3 times a week is ample for a beginner. Have a look on youTube, loads of exercises.

If you walk try and walk with a sweat on, 120 BMP is the sort of magic area for burning fat/weight loss etc, ie you back should be damp and sweaty for the duration and you should be breathing heavy.

Rough guide, our max heart rate is 220 les your age.
But just take it easy and don't over do it.

Also exercise isn't for everyone, its just one of those things you either enjoy or loath, bit like Marmite and Manchester United.

Just find something you enjoy, get checked but some nurse first but just be happy and contented, that's all that really matters.

Ciao

Will do a bit of updating soon.
Once its run in and trusted reliability I can see road trip and grub coming on.

Especially as Geoff has got a few brownie points in on the house mods and decoration, bit of spare time coming up

Thanks for the very comprehensive advice David, very useful indeed!!

I knew from watching many BBC documentaries "Trust me i'm a doctor" i think it is?, where they mention HIIT training is best.

Going to follow your advice about the greens are good for testosterone and go swimming in the morning when it's at it highest didn't know that, great info there along with the rest of it!!

I can see a plate of spinach coming on, funny enough i actually like the stuff as does the Mrs.

Ever since i've been married the mrs has never cooked liver she hates it, i love it so that's another one i think i'm long overdue.

Spinach in everything here, full fat Greek yogurt is nice with a few berries.

Same here on the liver, wife wont cook it, so its only when I can find it in restaurants.

On the greek yogurt, and stuff like that I try and always go for the full fat, natural unsaturated fats that is. When they remove the fat from food items and make it trendy low fat they replace it ( added )with sugar, just check out some labels. The old human digestive system is a pretty good machine, it can cope with the natural fats well, advecordo, lean meats that have natural fats, bacon ( not processed ) chicken, turkey etc, when you body has had enough it just passes it straight thru you ( good topic for early in the morning ) with added sugars the body struggles to process this and then just says " WTF do I do with this and then stores it, this can lead to insulin resistance. Insulin is the hormone that helps take or move sugars from your blood into your cells where it can be used for energy. With too much added sugar the insulin resistance stops this process which leads to elevated blood and sugar levels, then its a downward slope from there.

Sugar is actually more addictive than most hard drugs, its also an " empty food" high in calories with no proteins, nutrients or benefits to the body, and the rush or fix after it is gone is intense, the cravings are tremendous.

Crack on and well done.
