In 1985, my local family run Peugeot dealer imported the very first 205 turbo 16 into the uk. I seem to remember it was initially up for sale at 26k.
It sat on display in his showroom for the next two years. The price kept creeping up and it eventually sold during 1987 for approx 40k

The bug has never gone away and I'd still love one of these now. Am seriously considering selling all of my toys sometime in the not too distant future to fund buying one... My only reservation being that in standard road spec, they're not astonishingly quick. 0-60 being around the 6sec mark (although being sat in the passanger seat at the tender age of 15 back in 1985, it felt very quick!!)

Awesome (or shocking) I'm amazed they sold one, let alone 200. Look at the finish on that 'B' post...

Spot welds clearly in view there. Although to be fair, the build quality of all 1980's Peugeot's leaves a little to be desired.
These cars do have a very kit car-ish / one-off / hand built quality about them as thats essentially what they were. Most of the group B cars are the same in that respect..

Had to do a little homework on this question.
25k British Pounds in 1985 would have been about 32K USD.

So....one of these, likely fall in that range.

Scirocco (all options) , The Mitsubishi Starion/Conquest, or the controvertial Mustang SVO ( 4cyl. turbo)

Not suprised there was the legend of the 3 door cortina that went all the way down the line at Dagenham only to be spotted at quality control

(2 door panel one side, 1 door panel the other!)
