At first i thought it must be Volcano black LZ9U (my 2.6 avant colour) looking at the pictures but checked up on the paint code you put up and it's Panther black or (Panthero) and must be one of the last cars to use that paint code as Volcano took over very soon after. You should be seeing gold flecks in the paint in direct sunshine. Can you?

It's a lovely looking car Frank, but it defornately needs a set of ten spokes. They somehow make these cars look so much more sophisticate/luxurious on them. But hey if your wrists can't handle the ten spokes then so be it.

Good point on the colour Mark, looking at the photo's it looks to have B3 door cards making it a very early B4 like Leggy's

Hi Mark, when I bought the car I assumed from the pictures it was a flat black colour, and it was only when it arrived that I realised it was a metallic colour and yes, there are flecks of gold in it ......superb colour I reckon altho' back in 1984 when I had to sell my first and only new car, a 1983 Golf GTI, I vowed never to buy a black car again.
However, this is certainly smart , altho' there is a little "rust bubbling" around front right wheel arch and rear left arch. Something to work on in the months to come. Right now, I have to wait until the 01st to see how the auto gearbox works and if my suspicions of a possible head gasket(s) problem is going to materialise.
To be honest, even if I do have to get the gaskets sorted, the rest of the car is worth it from my point of view. Last owner had the car since August 1999, and religiously had the car serviced at main dealers in Hull, including every MOT. So with such a good S/H its hard to fault, but not quite sure what happened to it in the past 5 months or so... Will try to find out later.

p.s. and I do like Sport Rader wheels as you can see from 20 years ago!

Gotta love a 3 spoke. For me, that type of 4 spoke is one of the worst steering wheels on a classic Audi

Nice car btw

Can't use it 'til its taxed....I'm bu**ered if I'm paying for a months tax for only 4 days use, so it'll be street legal on the 1st September. As for wheels ( steering ) the 3 spoke feels a lot nicer and is of course leather, but the 4 spoke was original . Possibly the SE would have had the 3 spoke whilst mine is just a humble " E ". I'm sure the gurus will know........

3 spoke steering wheel looks so much nicer Frank, my black Coupe has the 4 spoke and Stormtrooper the 3 spoke, the 3 spoke does feel nicer to use and just looks so much better

Your choice though obviously Frank
