It depends on the type of driving and your right foot.

I get around 400 to a tank on my 90q 20v with mostly motorway use. I usually get about 60-62 litres in.

Let's put some things straight:
1) 5 pot engines warms up worse than 4 pot engines
2) IIRC there's no "genuine" thermostat - the "genuine" one you've bought is just the same wahtler or something similar you could buy in ordinary parts store, only you got charged extra for box with four rings
3) Most likely the worries about coolant temperature I can read here are baseless - since I have a car with metric instrument cluster, I have gauge which is calibrated in celsius, not just stripes - and quarter of gauge is 80 degrees - which is normal, and the only way to expect more is to fit "hotter" thermostat. So I don't give a damn that it shows 80 degrees while driving - what I don't like about that gauge is that it's showing only 90 degrees when fan kicks in, which, of course, kicks in at 95 degrees, which sounds like my year old behr MFTA is faulty and I again will have to spend ~30 quid...
