Hydrogen is the future, once they sort it.
But there will still be petrol(and even diesel) for people to have fun with. |

It's amazing how many people they catch out crossing the roadways in the Crystal Peaks and other bus stations. There are all sorts of other effects. To save energy, the heater runs under thermostatic control. So in an otherwise empty bus on a cold morning, it runs pretty much all the time. As the bus approaches Sheffield and fills up, people add body heat so the heater runs less and less frequently. Meaning that all the windows steam up exponentially quickly. But it's all mushware these days - they're now changing the software to rev the engine once when the bus moves off, and run the blower motor without heat if the internal temperature is OK but the external is low. It's all progress. |

The future's bright... The future's bright blue actually...
![]() We'll all have electric ones of these to take to the Dog and Duck, drive home blind drunk and crash into roadside furniture..

[quote=missfire;256843]i've seen a lot of these type things!
they have a basic failing though that means they are utterly useless, don't last long enough.... rare earth magnets only last for about four hundred years... ![]() Yes. they also call the magnet rare earth magnet but its not actually rare. That electro magnetic motor can also power a house, "FREE ENERGY" ![]() All you need is a standard car battery to spin the magnetic motor up to speed...when it reaches certain speed...the motor would spin on its own accord, you disconnect the battery current. or dont use a battery....just spin it by hand as he demonstrates in the video. you would easily get 2 years use out of a car battery. That magnetic motor in a car does not need to be charged up by electric..as an electric car would need to be every hundred mile or so. you just get in a drive to your destination. Imagine no more house electric bill. |

Working for Tyco I have some interest in this and a lot of info comes across my desk about electric cars.
Batteries Design for single unit has been discussed and is still on the table with Toyota and Ford. Charge Life, designs are already in place that increase the charge life and repeat charge number. What’s not there are the raw mats to manufacture. (its the same story as flouropolymers in Flat screen Tvs last year) and unless there is a major change in the minerals market this wont change for a fair few years Electric cars are the absolute way forwards and should be pushed in every aspect. The interesting side line is there will be a surfeit of petrol for you and i to use on what ever we want as the majority of cars will be electric. The only thing that all the manufactures are having a headache with is recharging times and the knock on draw, we all know the Soapy tea break imagine this 1000 fold and that is what you get when every one plugs there car in at night for a charge. If the Government could get half of the target numbers of people into electric cars the grid could fall down over night when the all get plugged in. |

I'm a bit ashamed to come out with this being a petrol head, but.
I have an EV ![]() It's a Peugeot electric motorscooter. Looks like a 50, rides a bit like a 50, granted it's not the most practical thing in my job, I have a diesel van for that, which I will ever see a technical successor to in my lifetime, but for nipping into town or the shop with a rucksack on it's unbeatable.

As an electrical engineer I have to agree with this and thought for ages 'why has no-one developed it' then suddenly the item below turned up on top gear http://www.topgear.com/uk/car-news/Honda-fcx-la This has to be the most sensible way forward and yet only Honda seem to have taken up the challenge, especially as you still fill up like a petrol car so no waiting for hours to charge a battery and not likely to run out of it in a hurry ![]()

A few years back, one of our clients switched from Focus Diesels to Pious's for one of it's field teams.
The result? Far higher fuel consumption ![]()
