Interesting reading on Audi and other cars - good call on the Monza Ian and the Saab Martyn

In 1985 the company that head-hunted me provided a Scorpio 2.9 as one of the inducements.

And very nice it was, until we discovered the UJ weakness in the rear halfshafts. We found we were replacing them every six months and tried to persuade Curries (our leasing service agent) to change them prophylactically - they wouldn't wear it so my car wound up being roadside-recovered around five times.

Once it failed in Broad Street in Birmingham - just past the Forum Hotel on the way out to Fiveways, blocking a bus against a parked truck and stuffing the whole Bullring gyratory system within minutes.

Actually made BRMB radio.
