I think you screw the bit of handle back on the left side and lever it up, as I reckon it pulls the brass screw holes forward which releases the lock.
There is one on ebay sold listings that in the last two pics, looks like the brass holes are connected to something behind: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Blaupunkt-...p2047675.l2557 oh, and a very small pic:

In this pic you can see the brass extending from the back of the holes to the interlock.

If the handle mechanism fails to work for whatever reason, per Royston's idea, in the past ive been able to get a kitchen knife (dont tell the other half) down between the radio and surround on either side via the glovebox / bookshelf which pushes the tags on the radio in enough to be able to withdraw it. Very fiddly but possible!
With my Luddite hat on briefly - In this case, arent you replacing the surround to give you the extra width for the delta? Makes persuasion easier from the front as you dont need to worry too much about scratching it?

Nope,it's not out. Tried Roystons idea and there's no way anythings budging,it's all rock solid behind there and want to leave it that way for a creak free car. There is an easy way to release the locking device, so to force it will just destroy a dash/car that's in perfect condition. No,.......this one needs to be taken to a pro or advise from someone who has actually removed the exact same model of stereo.
