I'm thinking lambda probe since it's worse when the car is warm. Lambda signal is ignored when the car is cold

However, the cool gauge problem needs to get fixed first.

Hi guys,
I can get hold of a lambda probe for under £10.00,but is it easy to fit? Seems to be just a couple of connections but what about access to it?

It's probably in the catalyst.

it will be a 22mm socket to undo it. Be prepared for a battle.

Hi,
just changed the rotor arm. Going to work in a bit so will know if it made any difference. I plan to change one thing at a time. The old rotor arm was covered in black sooty stuff as was inside of the cap.I wiped the the stuff away from inside and will change it soon anyway.

Hi,
just an update, the rotor arm has done the trick,no more hesitation. I changed the cheapest thing first as recommended by our John ! Thanks very much indeed John I bought an Intermotor rotor arm off ebay for £3.50 fitted it today and the Audi is running like a Swiss watch ( touch wood...I don`t want to jinx it ). Maybe it`s not the best make but it will do for now. I would like to thanks all the guys that replied to my post and offered possible solutions . You guys are the ones that make this forum so good.
