Smile Audi numbers

Thanks very much Leggy, iv'e been confused for a long time regarding the various Audi numbers used. I always use the type number myself, but I see i'm in the minority.

As I understand it, the B2,B3, C3, C4 numbers are the Volkswagon group platforms, while the 'type' numbers are the Audi numbers.

All far too confusing unless discussed loudly over several pints of Guinness in the pub...

Dont worry about learning the code numbers whe dealing with Audi Dealers as all parts older than 10 years seem to be mysteriously NLA.....

100% agree on the not needing codes when dealing with the Audi Dealerships, but not so much on your 10 year NLA statement. I say this because up until late last year my nearest branch were finding all (if not most) of the parts that I needed for my 1992 8C/B4 Audi80E, so maybe it's just a case of which type/model you have at the end of the day.

There's a lot of those 80s still on the road, so there must be a profit in it for them, and a lot of the parts are common to VW golf etc, at least under the bonnet. So you're one of the lucky ones!
