It sounds like you have checked most of the usual suspects.
You should be able to hear the fuel pump when it is running, so I would check the fuel pump relay.
I had trouble with mine (T44)... kept cutting out when coasting. Resolved by resoldering some dodgy joints in it.
You can take the relay out and replace with a jumper wire (across the 2 big terminals) to get the pump to run. (Only for testing - do not leave it like this without the engine running).

Hey, thanks for all the suggestions guys, I'll be going at the car again on Saturday so I'll give an update here. Anyone have any suggestions of the best method of flushing the fuel system?

To answer a few questions, Steve T63, the pump is inside the petrol tank on the 100 and the filter is a large one up under the bonnet, it does seem like there's not enough fuel getting up there and I have my suspicions about the pump at the moment.

Quattro Turbo, prior to my having problems I didn't notice any excessive noise from the pump, at the moment though I'm not hearing anything at all from the pump, no 'whirr' when you trun the ignition on and no noise when you rty and fire her up. Unfortunately she's not firing up at the moment so I can't tell if there's any noise from the pump.

The Real MSH, I'll give that a go on saturday and see what she does, I'll let you know how that goes,

Thanks guys, it seems to be pointing at either crap in the sytem causing fuel starvation or my pump if faulty. I'll keep you all posted.

Hi Ovalking, just saw your message there now, I had thought about the relay, that's under the dash on the drivers side isn't it? I think I might make that my first port of call as it would make sense to check that before I go digging around the pump.

Pump relay is in the fuse box under the bonnet/windscreen. It's got a 'fuse'shaped hole in the top. You should hear the pump, there is a new pump in one of mine but you still hear it hissing away.

And you'll definitely hear an old one.

Where the fuel pump is mounted to fuel tank...give it few taps with the handle end of a screwdriver, might just bring it back to life (temporary fix)

This could definitely be where my problem is so, I'm getting no sound at all from the pump. I must check that relay first and see if it's causing the problem. Thanks Missfire.

As a matter of interest, where did you buy your fuel pump from, are they expensive?

Type81, do you mean tapping the petrol tank from under the car where the pump is?

The pump was on the car when I got it, i don't think they're that much, 50 - 100 quid maybe. I'll have a look for one.
