Confusion reigns on this subject because the units fitted to coupes and coupe quattros are very similar. Indeed the plastic part of the lens unit is the same BUT the lens is different, it is not however unique to the quattro. The original part numbers for the quattro were valid throughout production 437 941 699E & 700E respectively. The clue is in the part number, as with a lot of quattro things the fog lamps were borrowed from the 1979 -1982 200/E/T i.e. a type 43 chassis. The numbers change only in terms of chassis derivative to 443 941 699E & 700E respectively for the units found in a 1985 onwards 200T or 200q, whether they are the same of not I'm uncertain never having compared them side by side.

Frankly I can't see the point in trying to retrofit units from a Porsche 1944, IMO they do not appear similar, and finding an undamaged tidy pair is probably just as difficult as obtaining genuine quattro ones and probably not that much cheaper.

Pete Reeve possibly has some limited stock I believe, they wont be cheap but the car will be right. I've tried to attach a jpeg of the couple of new fog lamps that I have but i can't get the computer to upload the images. i don't know why not and i haven't got time right now.

Have had a look at Baldy's link, now that does look spot on - further investigation might well be worth it. Any coupe or coupe quattro backing plates would do with that lens over the front.

Just to confirm that mid eighties Porsche 944 fogs fit. (1985-1988)
autoatlanta.com do replacement polycarbon lenses for about $50 and they ship worldwide.
Get on their site and type in fog lamp lenses.
I have these on Moneypit and they look like the originals.
If you want OEM Hella's they sell these as well.

The fog lamps were made by Hella and were supplied to both Audi and Porsche.
Only difference now is Audi are too frickin' tight to buy more and say NLA , Where as Porsche still list them as stock.

I'm sure I wrote all this about 18 months ago.......

Looks good to me Lofty, trouble with threads being eighteen months old is that people just can't be bothered to go and do a proper search and if they weren't on here the first time round they don't know it exists, but cheers anyway I've learnt something today!!
