Yeah, it "could" be alright. However, I do 100 miles round trip to work every day and it's a scary thought if the big ends go bang 2 weeks after having the sump replaced. The Garage might insist on putting another engine in, in which case, the Insurance will right it off. But could be worth a buy back and let the wife use it locally.

I've sourced another 2.5tdi quattro that I'm going to see on Friday and should know the damage on current car by then!
