Mirror finish then?

It's going to be a good job then! I'll take it your going to use some 2000 grit and soap to block off before buffing up with some 3M products or do you use different? What paint system are you using, ie, manufacture and type?

Blimley, ok
for a flat and polish depends on the product and the material, some paints are quite soft and some hard, so the flatting I find is dictated by this, but always finish with a 1500-2000 or fine brown and hard soap bar.
If there is a lot of peel then I may da with a soft pad and 2000 first, but always finish by hand.

I polish first with a rotary and Farecla G3 first and then red foam and 3M Finesse it. If its a pale colour that's usually ok.
But for the extra special jobbies and dark colours I have a rupe bigfoot DA polisher.
If its a new job then I will just use the yellow then white pads with corresponding compounds. No cut just polishing.

Materials, Lechler or Mipa epoxy, like Lechler best, standox or reface polyester spray filler, undercoat any good high build, what ever is on offer at the time, I try and source the old heavy solvent products, have a chap who buys closing stock, it just seems better that the new low VOC stuff, top coat clear is usually diamond or diamond plus - good quality, base is ICI or sickens, much the same for solids, always use the MS system or HS if the colour is a bit pissy.

Rubbing papers bulldog, trade, 3m
W&D is always 3M

There is a reason why i asked as clearly you know your onions, i used to know my onions but we are talking in a fairly narrow band overall, and experience of painting was just in cellulose and just over 20 years ago going back almost 30 years. I also don't like the refinishing world/bodyshops where water based paints are used all the time now. I much prefer the look and longevity of the older style solvent paints. I think we will be having a very interesting chat when i get down to you at some point. I bought a new Devilbis JGA suction feed gun 30 years ago beautiful piece of kit and it's still mint as only sprayed a few cars. Thanks for the compressive answer.
