Until my last run, when I crunched 2nd before going into to the sharp left hander immediately after the start. It must have riled me as I went on to record my second fastest time ever, just over a tenth slower than my previous best! Enough to put me into 2nd place and for a trophy .

Overnight rain ment that Sunday started slippery making it a bit frustrating not being able to build on the previous day's pace. It gradually dried and the rain held off for the rest of the day. Again my final run of the day was good'un, apart from a lock up into one of the hairpins and a loss of momentum. 0.17 of a second seperated me in third place from the winner, damn that lock up ..

Last Sunday's Gurston meeting just about stayed dry (which is not how it was forecast) . As usual, we couldn't catch the regular class leader in his 650bhp Mitsi Evo, but Andy and I battled it out for 2nd and 3rd. This time Andy just piping me .

A trip to north Devon this weekend for the Chivenor airfield sprint, near Barnstaple.

If you mean at Gurston, then no. Only four in the class, so only a trophy for 1st place. There needs to be 5 in the class for a second place trophy .

You might remember the weather last Sunday was a bit pants. And with Chivenor airfield being right on the Bristol channel we got the brunt of it. The wind didn't let up all day, but fortunately the horizontal rain we had in the morning did ease off. Those marshalls are nuts .

Anyway the sprint course starts with 1/4 mile drag along the runway and I managed to beat our last years best time, now frustratingly close to a 12 at 13.16 and 105mph .
(Might have had something to do with the tail wind, but don't tell anyone).

We made the best of the conditions with some of the Oulton Park sideways training coming into good use. Andy took 1st and I came a close second. A quattro 1, 2, and we bagged a couple of trophies .

Off to Charmouth near Bridport tomorrow and Sunday for the hillcimb in better weather hopefully (that's almost next door to Will ).

It runs about 320bhp and has an uncharacteristic amount of torque for a 10V.
A bit of head work, inlet and exhaust manifolds and EFI all helps. The roller bearing turbo provides good low down pick up aswell .
It's shed a few kilos too and is down to about 1150, so it is quite spritely .
