My first drive when I was 17, all those years ago (1984), was an AUDI 80GTE. What a car!!! Went like stink. The only reason I mention it was that the floor pan rusted through about 5 years later, ended up in the scrapyard, only to be user in banger racing!!! Every body has a regret in life when they look back, and I think my love affair with 100 Coupé S must be a guilt thing...

Those arnt bangers, theyre classic stock cars,

It still means the ultimate "death" of the car, but they are usually built from rotten wrecks and can last a fair few seasons before theyre written off. No worse than rallying in that sense.

These are classic bangers!

When I was a kid my dad rescued an Avenger estate from the local scrap yard for me to learn to drive in the huge stubble field next to our house then. It was brilliant and I got several years of great fun and tought me how to go on! Rear wheel drive in a muddy field with nothing to hit. Every one should learn to drive before they get near a road.
I got through 5 or 6 scrappers before mum n dad split when I was 14. Best one by far was a MK2 Escort estate in very Royal Blue. That one had a radio in it!!! 2 door estate, they should make them now!!!!

Ahhh, great memeories!
