No worries.......also, if the lock barrel isn't directly interchangeable, it's possible to modify/swap around the little brass plates inside so you can use the original key

I did my replcement door handle and the glovebox so all my locks match & I only have 1 key. Thanks to Duffy on here for pointing me in the right direction on this one.

I don’t lock things like gloveboxes...if the bugger has got in the car, a lock is only going to mean more damage to repair.
Actually, I don’t know if my key even works the glovebox. I fixed both door handles on mine to fit the key that did the ignition and fuel stopper.

I don't lock my glovebox either, but it was a nice detail to sort

Just to say many thanks for posting this (and to BITF below for the armrest turning addendum) as it really helped me get the drivers door panel off. Actuator on original 3rd party immobiliser alarm isnt locking so need to find out whats going on. It is now printed out and added to the additional workbook documents printed over the last 20-30 years.
