Default Front wishbone caught wheel on full lock??

So I recently had new wishbones fitted to the CQ.

Yesterday I was driving around a tight bend and had steering on full lock to the left when I heard a grinding noise .

I looked under the car and the inside of the front passenger wheel has scrapped against the wishbone!

How could this happen? Could they have put the wishbones on wrong somehow? Fitment looks fairly fool proof to me!?

I confused how this is possible. I have noticed some strange binding noises from that side of the suspension (I think) when turning the wheel some times.

Any ideas what's going on?

Is it definitely the correct part number? There is more than one type of wishbone for the B2 but I have no idea if they are interchangeable or could cause issues.

Are the wheels original fitment?
Is the wishbone a cheap pattern part, was the balljoint swapped as well, is it a genuine balljoint, are the wishbones sided-and if so are they in the correct side?

New ball joints too.

All Febi parts I think.

The wheels are imitation split rim speedlines. I've had them on the car for over 10 years.

Front and rear/left and right are all the same wishbones on the tyre 85 CQ aren't they?

I'd check they are actually the correct wishbones for your model, pretty sure there's two types and I think they're sided.

Try full lock the other way whilst stationery and see how close the other wheel gets to the wishbone on the the other side.

Something is obviously amiss.

Have they fitted B3 wishbones to your B2 ? front wishbones on a B3 are offset unlike the rears and B2 ones, also there are 2 types of balljoints fitted to B3 cars both with 3 bolt holes, both different.

Will take a look.

I did notice that the ABS wire on that wheel was fully stretched at full lock. So much so, it's split the rubber on the outside of the wire. Could something else cause the steering rack to turn the strut too far?

It also had a set of M-Tec front discs. Could they be slightly too thin on the hub? Causing the wheel to sit to close to the wishbone?

A couple mm difference is disc hub thickness won't be the problem and unless you were to wind out the adjuster on the tie rod way too far that can't be the issue as the tracking would be absolutely miles out.

Do you have your old wishbones and ball joints to compare to the ones now fitted?

Can the ball-joints be Mis-fitted? Above or below the wishbone?

Thinking about it-what part of the wishbone was catching the wheel? Were new bushes fitted, and fitted the correct way in?

If you compare the old wishbone to the new one the answer should be obvious.
Also, does it do it on the driver's side at full right lock?
