Default Water in rear footwell!

It has happened before but my drivers door wasn't to clever at the time so put it down to that. That was fixed a few months ago so now can't figure out where water is coming from. It's not coming from above as there is no evidence but the footwell behind the driver has about 1 inch of water in it (I've been away with work for 4 weeks so it's not happened over night). My suspicion is that is somehow coming through the air system as there is a vent in the footwell. Any ideas how this can happen and how to stop it happening again?

Cheers, Mat

Usually a sunroof drainage pipe problem, which dries out after a couple of days and leaves the water's access route a mystery..
I have liberally doused areas in talc before, to find where the run comes from-my A3 boot smells delicious, but is now dry.

Be careful, Mat. They are very fragile and you don't want to puncture the rubber tubes. Tip from the BMW 7 Series register (I have a 740i Sport as well as the Audi) is to use strimmer "string" with the business end melted to form a blob instead of a sharp end.

Thanks for the tip. I'll get some from b&q tomorrow.

There’s a drain in the plenum near the fuse box which can block and of course in the same area, the bonnet pull grommet can leak.
I’ve had a leaky seam in the plenum too on an Avant, right in the corner where the plenum floor meets the bulkhead and the A pillar, water drips in and runs underneath the carpet into the rear footwell.
