Gearboxes as said are robust and rarely break, the weak part is the driveshafts in many cases....
I would be building it myself, i've had quite allot of experience (for someone who isn't a professional), for example I put forged pistons/rods/shells in my impreza, installed the simtek ecu, parallel fuel mod and replaced the manifold, turbo and exhaust among other things.

I'm going to start another thread on the AAT diesel block route I havnt decided anything yet, hell I haven't even started working on the car yet
