I am sorry to say that I currently own BGO 827X...!

I say sorry, because it became a donor car for my 5T returned to England from Ireland, and it helped many others. It now stands as a shell, pretty much. But it was not the better car of the two by some way.

Unfortunately, my skills were not enough to put it right, and it did have serious corrosion problems. However, despite the many internet recommendations, ultimately there were only a few places that seemed able to restore a 5T, and they were just not interested (maybe it's me!). Anyhoose, the car kept a few others on the road, and is now only sorned because I have not got around to scrapping it. And the bulkhead, bonnet, and glass look useful in case I ever have a crunsh, so I keep it about.

I apologise that the news on BGO 827X is not better.

Garry, I'd love to know where it is but without a close friend in the DVLA or police not much chance!

If you were ever prepared to let the bonnet go i would be interested, mine was damaged right where it shows on the front edge and that was by the spray shop

At least you know where it is now
Good it kept a few good cars on the road
That is the only way to keep one of these car on the road is to have a spare one for bits
I keep a few just incase
Parts are getting harder to find and really expensive now

Hello Bruce,

Yes, I will let you know if I can remove the bonnet...I will try to remember, if at any point the car is about to go to the big crusher in the sky! Mind, I say car, but that does over state things now.

Hello Garry...

Yes, if being honest, I think having a donor car WAS the only way to keep VMX 155X on the road.

A donor car is very helpful indeed, probably essential in the case of our old 200s

Thank you Ozzie they crushed the front edge of mine in the centre by dropping it the idiots, it is now about 25mm too short and can't be fixed

I like the last part of your comment

I have 4 cars a grey 5e which is worth saving and a green 5t which is poor condition but with the rarity of the car I think it's worth saving
Also a white 5t which does not have much metal left on it
But the engine is good and still starts first turn of the key
I am collecting parts to save it and have been for a few years
That's why I posted up about the cars in cromer
If it's no good it might just keep another few on the road a bit longer

Maybe you gave me that photo in the first place - sorry! I took a lot of parts from the rusty green one, fortunately the 5T I had was not too bad really. I used to buy a lot of spares from eBay.de - got a set of new headlight surrounds for £50 and a good front wing for 99p! I guess those days are gone, though having just got rid of a 60's Maserati, any Audi spares will seem good value in comparison!

Spares are getting harder to find
I have a Facebook page called type 43 parts and information
I have a few members from Europe who have spares
It's very handy now with the short supply in the UK
You did well with a front wing for 99p now that was a bargain
Light surrounds are gold dust now even front lights are funny money

Here is one for you the 5e is a rarer car than 5t
I always thought the 5t was rarer
