That would be correct Frank.I think early in production life the SE spec was probably quite expensive to add these options but by about 93/94 the SE spec was a very affordable option that came with 10 Spoke Speediness, Sports seats, sports clocks and the chunky very nice to hold S2 steering wheel aka 3 spoke sports wheel but without the S badge.

Just reread your post 24. The rust suggests to me Frank, perhaps a previous misdemeanour resulting in a visit to the body shop? Unlike the B3,these B4's are so well built and Galvanised that i have rarely seen rust on the front arches let alone the back unless through iffy repair,at least mine never displayed that, one had covered 149k when i sold it used in all weathers and my current one with 76k genuine miles.

Fingers crossed you don't need head gaskets, but should you have to......... the car really deserves to be repaired as you mentioned.

Very astute of you Mark as the car has indeed had some bodywork in the past, in fact a hefty bill for over £2300 for front end work back in Nov 2003. Bill details all parts used so that might explain the front right wing whilst today when closing the rear left car door, it closed with a different clunk. Whilst I'm no detective, that might explain the back left signs of corrosion around that wing.

Of course I did the usual checks and the car was Cat D in 2003 but has covered over 20,000 miles since then so felt confident enough to still buy. I'm very happy with the car, but the proof of the pudding will be the drive on Thursday, watch this space!

Hmmmm, I don't think my cars paintwork comes out so distinctly multi-coloured, just shows the gold flecks ; tried to take a picture or two, but get too much reflection from the shiney paintwork . Will persevere.
