Sounds about right!! So G12/13 is a long life anti-freeze but not of the OAT type? So the OP would want this stuff.

It's a minefield !
The blue stuff has to be changed every 3 years or so as it 'looses' ( I believe) something that makes it anti FREEZE, the glycol ??
Anyway as I don't mind changing mine ( I always seem to be doing something that results in loss of coolant , rad, stat, hose, oil heater/cooler by filter) so it's never been a real issue

It's a bit like the ethanol in the petrol these days, I use an additive , just in case.
B2 Sports were not built for unleaded let alone this other stuff

Why do they put Ethanol in the petrol these days?
Also, I thought 80's 5 cylinder audis had hardened valve seats, and were designed for unleaded fuels???

Me neither, it's not really a hassle every couple of years.

They may be ok for unleaded but they are not OK for the low octane that comes with unleaded !
Ethanol ? think it's to do with getting a cleaner exhaust, it makes the exhaust gas smell very different, notice it evertime I back the car out !
Edit -- I should have said they weren't built for the low octane of unleaded !

Oh.. i see.

Well, isnt that why it says 98 ron minimum or something like that on the filler flap?

Surely it just needs super unleaded?

back in 2009 all EU member states signed up to the Renewable Energy Directive, which requires 10% of road transport energy to be from renewable sources by 2020. The current UK minimum required by the Renewable Transport Fuels Obligation is 4.75%. - See more at: http://www.whatcar.com/car-news/new-....BQ5tXRn6.dpuf
Ethanol has about 30% less energy than petrol for the same volume, so you need to inject more, and will get lower mpg.

Running E85 on turbo cars can have power benefits as you can run more boost/timing due to the octane and cooling effect. (if you map for it and have the injector size to take advantage)

As for coolant I just use the Audi stuff and keep a few bottles in the garage as you will always need it for some unforeseen event.

I believe the Ethanol content in our petrol is currently still 5%, with 10% planned for the future.

Do you really need to use an additive with 5%?
