If I was to try again I would lubricate the seal and tease out the seal from the inside with wooden spatulas (like the doctors use, say ahh!) and get assistance

Yeah I know they're overly delicate, I've just had the windscreen corners repaired and they managed to do a great job to get my old one both out and in without damage - trouble is it's leaking again!

This time it's leaking around the seal as opposed to the body, almost like the water is making its way between the glass and the rubber, now thinking the rubber may be perished.

Does anyone know if it would cause the seal to leak if the chrome/silver trim isn't inserted into the seal properly?

The answer must be yes.
If the trim piece isn't inserted/inserted properly presumably the rubber isn't in tightly/not 'gripping' the screen/body tightly therefore , in theory, there is more 'space' around the edges for water to get in
?????

We will have to see.
How much did you have to pay Moonwatcher ? ( pm me if you prefer).
That's the reason to know for which model such a part was more likely to be fitted.

Remembers trouble experienced by fellow chap in small town parts store at the other side of latvia, trying to get ARB bushes for Typ89 with PAS - the trick is that Typ89 without PAS had ARB directly attached to wishbones, and that's exactly what guys were expecting in that store, upon hearing "1988 Audi 80", meanwhile cars with PAS had short links, PAS was available to some A80's and all A90's, upon finding that in ETKA I just gave him advice to ask for A90 ARB bushes, that did the trick instantly...

That's my thinking to be honest, might have to seek out a place that can insert it properly as I have had a go and failed miserably! Haha!

Really interested in the chrome strip insert. Cannot find them for love nor money on the original numbers. Mine have faded badly.

Has anyone got a chrome strip handy? Could they post a picture of the profile? measure it?

A thread I found a while back from - a group buy organised on a US forum. - http://www.classic-audi.co.uk/forum/...ad.php?t=23034

Just put the 'with insert' number in to google. Anyone fluent in french?

I assume this is a lets list every part for every car on our site and wait for the phonecall....

My brother and I did it last sunday, the trim from the rear screen seal was missing. We took the glass and seal out, inserted the trim and put it back in the car. On the front there is more risk of breaking the glass though.

When I got mine done, (£175 with green strip OEM style Pilkington replacement - Pilk no long do replacement screens now). At RCMR Tom said practically speaking you have to choose either to save the rubber or the glass when removing the front windscreen as it's near impossible save both.
