Default Getting rid of cigarette smell in car - Ozone generator

As it says, trying to get rid of stale cig smell! I've shampooed all the carpets, meticulously cleaned all the surfaces and cleaned the leather! Not attacked the headlining as I'm scared the wet vac will pull out of shape!

I've read about Ozone Generators and was wondering if anyone has used one as the reports are very impressive!

Any thoughts or ideas are welcomed!

I used an air-con cleaner (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/COMMA-AIR-...item20fe950574) on my wife's old car prior to selling it, it had wet dog smell! Worked well.

This stuff might be better up to the job though......

Don't bother with an odor bomb .... They just mask the smell fir a week or two . I've tried it on one of mine and ended up using fragrance from work instead that's ok
The odor bomb fills the car with propellants / silicones too

Had to sell my Mothers Skoda Octavia Estate a few years ago, when at the youthful age of 89 I suggested it would be a good idea if she gave up driving.

She had owned 4 Border Collies at one time and in later years always had a minimum of 2 dogs at any one time.

That car was dark green and it STANK of that acrid smell of wet dog . On a hot day the smell was overpowering and all windows had to be opened.... I tried everything I could to get rid of the smell, everything from Pet odour remover from the Vets to filling the car with freshly cut lawn mowings ( supposed magic trick ) Nothing really worked 100% and whenever the sun came out, that smell would creep out of the upholstery ....or maybe it WAS the headlining as I never gave that too much attention.

I'll be interested in hearing if you solve the problem. I have a Border Collie myself now, but make sure that if the dog is wet and gets in the car, I have loads of towels around and as soon as I get home they are all removed from the car . Plus I seem to change my car at ridiculously short intervals so I guess the smell never gets a chance to "stick"

Wish you luck with the problem.....I was lucky when I sold Mums car as the chap that came to buy it had a very bad cold!!

I've read about the odor bomb with mixed reviews! I'm real interested if anyone has used an Ozone Generator! The reviews are very good at eliminating smoke and pet smells!

Unhappy cig smell

you can never totally get rid of it. It will get weaker over time but the only way to truly get the smell gone is to replace all the fabric in the car sens it is leather that means the carpets roof liner stuff like that.

This will be controversial, all the more reason why i am glad i don't smoke anymore and never did in my classic audis having to much respect for them.Thankfully we don't have horrible doggy smells, they are lovely animals for sure and i appreciate peoples attachment to them as i have a brilliant cat but for me thankfully i have only had to endure getting into a dodgy car once or twice and that was more than enough. It's a seriously offensive smell.

Ok, I've bought a ozone generator! I'll report back! I did clean the roof lining and the overall smell is nothing like as bad as it was! I'll try tomorrow!
