Default My delema

So I have electric windows in my 84 Audi 4000 sedan and because parts for it are so hard to find and my back windows don't work I am wanting to put manual windows in it but I'm not sheer what will cross with it I think maybe ones out of a VW Rabit will but still not sheer any one have any ideas. Would be a great help.

That would mean drilling holes in the door cards as well, can't believe electric window regulators are that hard to come by in the US? Actually I was hoping to find some Audi 4k parts in the US for my cars.

Anyway, my brother is breaking a 90 (Euro version of the 4000) and has manual regulators for you if you want.

Worth a little diagnostics and elimination of potential issues before embarking on some mods.

Sticky motors that need a good clean.
Window switches that are easily swapped if you find some.
Mechanisms that need some grease
Poor connections on the window circuit breakers
Dirt build up in the guides and channels

Definitely worth investigating if not done so already.

I had the same in my 90. Three non functioning electric windows. Turned out to be faulty switches. I'd be trying that route first.

Is there no Audi's in a breakers yard of that era you could try and swop the switches over? Even if they are the incorrect profile/ shape but the plug on the rear may be the same, just to rule out faulty switches and give them a try before moving on?

Got a spare regulator / motor from a 83 80q for the rear if it's any good ? Might have both of them but will need to check

Postage could be pricey

Broken wires from the B-post to the doors might also be one.

Yep.
Also- rear windows? Is there a lockout switch? Lack of use making them slow to react. My v8 did that once in a while.

Well, don't trow that money and start to look for problems. What happens if you connect just motors to battery - do they run?
