I don't mean literally.

but managers, team leaders, foremen, make more money for a company than operatives. They should be valued more by any given company, hence the higher pay. Suppose you never know the reasons for his behaviour but as a last resort a move to another company might change ringmaster's life. Life's hard enough without that sh*t.
