It's taken me months to come to terms with it, but I'm moving to the other side of the world so it's time to sell my 80
This has been used as my fun weekend car, and occasionally at drag events, my best run was a 13.5 quarter.

Ideally I would re-make the exhaust, as it is largely made of bits and bobs, does the job but it could be much improved and gain some horses in the process!
Could use tracking.
Dash lights don't work (suspect clocks, spare clocks included)
Rear electric windows don't work disturbed something swapping the doorcards so will just be a loose connection.
The windscreen on the passenger side has trapped water and as such has caused a little rust.
The front passenger wing has had a little scrape in the past but you wouldn't notice it at a glance, some minor rust on both front arches too, was going to go B4 front anyway but never got round to it.
Rear discs need replacing, quite bad condition from the old siezed calipers, passed the MOT with them so not desperate.

The reg plate won't be included, I assume the DVLA would reassign the original H plate.

It did indeed, and after the buyers Mrs found out that he'd bought it, and then when she found out how much he actually paid (not £500 like he told her) he suddenly had buyers remorse and claimed the car was falling apart.

The last message he sent me, he was talking about selling it again because it needed £50 spending on it so keep an eye out!

Ive still got the 80 and haven't sold it....
£50 to spend on it?!!! £1800 to date and I haven't even started underneath the car yet.
Car is being re loomed atm....after having to remove the dash due to complete electrical failure after only getting to drive the car for about an hour the day after purchase.
After removing the dash we were completely horrified to find what I can only describe as a ticking time bomb waiting to explode....and im not even exaggerating....bare live wires everywhere not insulated...ECU screwed into heater duct with wood screws......relays just floating around with bare spade connectors and so on......
Don't want to start a slagging war but im not even going to mention what unbelievable 'Bodges' I wound under the bonnet because I don't know who was responsible?
I have owned many vw and Audis and there is one lesson I have learnt in the last 12 months of owning this car.....don't ever buy a car on a "hunch" it really can turn around and bit you on the arse.

At least when and if I do come to sell it I know and will be happy to say the car will be safe and reliable and not being held together with 'Plastic milk bottle tops' 'plastic pens' and bits of 'wood'
that's no exaggeration either.
Like I said I can not emphasize anough that this was responsible by the previous owner..but whoever it was 'Free Barclays pens' to join vacuum hoses together and plastic milk bottle tops to hold coilpacks in!!!!! REALLY?!!!

I think with any major conversion purchase like this, for under £10k its a case of accepting that there will be work to be done, and that some of the 'finds' will be eye openers. However the basic engineering is done, it run/ran as a 20vT successfully and that's a quantum leap forward from a blank canvas 80 with a naturally aspirated 4 pot. I personally (and probably like you) absolutely love the concept of a big power Audi 80 quattro, and I'm delighted it's working its way back to full, rude health with you... Well done...

Sorry to hear this but i'm not surprised at all! The car did look great in the pictures but pictures are just pictures. Obviously its easy to know now in hindsight about the level of incompetence but it's a shame we didn't know each other and we didn't speak because i would have put you off buying from the guy as i have personal reasons to dislike him intensely.

He contacted me through myself selling genuine mint very low mileage 7A 20V parts at fair prices that were way way cheaper than Audi prices and i had no problem shifting to other members over on the S2 forum and eBay about 18 months ago. When i replied to his requests for prices of stuff i had not listed he just became cocky and abusive saying my prices were too expensive,he just expected me to give the stuff away himself saying he threw away these parts only a few years earlier. More fool for him not thinking ahead.

His emails were very unsavoury to say the least,he even trolled on the open forum over it.The man is deluded as i had no problem selling the parts to shall we say the more exacting members who are looking for mint perfectly working stuff to compliment their cars that have graced magazine articles like Audi Driver for one. I have even given one or 2 parts away for certain members to help them get the perfect original NLA part for their RS2. I'm afraid Jolfa deals in the gutter and is best avoided at all costs.
