Default HID kit for my Quadlamp coupe??

Evening Guys

I need your help, my old man has asked what I want for xmas this year instead of buying random crap like usual, which is nice.
I want an HID light upgrade as my Quadlamps as nice and rare as they are....they are completely pants at night... I know they are renowned for this and was going to except it but they are border line dangerous if they get coating of dust!!

As the car is currently under dust covers locked in my garage I cant be Ar**d to go and look at the brand and size of the main lights.

Can someone tell me what size the main light is H1 /H4/H7 ??? and will a HID kit work??

Thanks

Bry

I asked this question about HID's on my coupe GT on here some time ago and was told I would dazzle everyone on the road. The idea was then dropped!

I've been told HID conversions are not always straight forward for MOT standards - I have no idea why so will watch this with interest

Thanks fellas

The kits seem to come in around £50, as long as I dont have to permanently adapt the lights, I figure I can always change it back for Mr MOT man.

I'll take the dazzling comments under advise but I dont think I'll drop the idea for that reason, these old quads really are terrible.

Thanks for the heads up Jack

I'll let you know how I get on

You're gonna need projectors in order not to blind oncoming traffic.

Hi mate, can you be a little more specific, what do you mean projectors they don't appear to be advertised with the kits?

Are they a buy only option? Are you suggesting I need to change the glass/add a lense or something??

Fit a set of the lamps used in this thread!!!

They look ace and will give an amazing light if couple with a HID kit!!!!

Tonks option is the best I would say. However I use HID's in my standard 80 headlights and don't seem to dazzle that many on the road. Get a flash from upcoming traffic but no more than 5 in a year now.

My leon cupra had HID's fitted. The ballast was attached away from the headlamp unit and used the standard lamp wiring to power the ballast in one end and out the other end plugged into the back of the headlamp unit and onto the HID lamp. To change back you simply unplugged the original wiring from the ballast and back into the headlamp with the standard bulb. 2 min job for MOT time.

I may be wrong but as I understand it the HID light isn't supposed to work in conjunction with the traditional reflectors in the headlamp - and it's from the reflectors that dazzle the most.
