Hi Micky - it wasn't a million miles away from the asking price. Very nice seller and a very pleasant transaction, even though I won't be picking it up for a week or so. The car was in the original owners wifes name due to him passing away, but she never drove it (was scared of its size) so it got parked in the garage and that was it. I've never experienced a car like that - usually it was parked up because something had gone wrong with it. Cambelt was changed 200 miles ago, air filter etc. the same, although I would definitely be taking a close look at everything before 'the first firing'. I dare say a resto thread on here will be in order when I take delivery ;->

Thanks Gary.

The only area of rot I could find was under the battery area towards the inner wing where water had been leaking in from the roof and settling there. Little bit worried about this but accessibility-wise with the bonnet off (and obviously battery well removed) it *fingers crossed* won't be too bad.

The car has got ziebart-type plugs in the sills which I'm hoping will have done some good.

You know what it's like, you only get a really good chance to have a poke around when it's in your ownership so I will have to wait and see what other excitement there is ;->

I'm certainly not going to go down the painting route (I now see where part of your resto budget wen!) - I like my cars to have whatever life has thrown at them but yours certainly look as good as when they rolled off the production line and are a credit to you.

One thing I know is missing on the car, the rear quarter trim on the drivers side is AWOL - clips are still there (just like beetle trim clips) but not the rear trim. Hunting one of those down will be my first online task probably unless, do you know of anywhere that might have one? Thanks mate.

Well done, can't really go wrong at that kind of money.

Thanks Q777. It's actually the first vehicle purchase I've ever had where I had a really good chat and cup of coffee with the owner and best part is her son-in-law who will be helping me move it as well for a very reasonable price! Well worth a box of chocs and bottle of wine I think.

Anyway, I'll be posting up on here when it's in my possession finally, thanks all for the info.
